PRS Pad Black Felt Top Foam Bottom
Product Description
During his early training years in Australia, Clinton became frustrated with soreness problems he experienced with dry spots on his horses' backs. He was determined to remedy the situation, and made his first prototype pad by hand in his mother's kitchen. When he came to the United States, he teamed up with Classic Equine to put his prototype into production. Today, Clinton's Pressure Release System Pad is used by thousands of trail riders, trainers and competitors with the same great results.
Features:
- Measures 30" x 31"
- 1 ½" thick (3/4" foam bottom + 5/8" orthopedic felt + 1/8" felt top)
-
Unique, patent-pending design that helps prevent dry spots, eliminate back sores and white hairs by reducing saddle pressure to the withers and shoulders.
-
Absorbs shock and molds to the shape of the horse's back to remain securely in place without shifting from side to side.

Cutout design over the withers to provide spine relief.
-
Contoured fit follows the line of your horse's back with a split design that allows for the independent and free movement of the horse's hips and shoulders.

-
Unique leg-cut design provides a close-contact fit for greater sensitivity, communication and feel of the horse.
-
Pressure-relief design encourages horses to perform suppling and flexion exercises by freeing up the shoulders and hips, relieving strain and pressure from the saddle.
The Foam Behind the Cushioning
Our PRS Saddle Pad uses a high-density, closed-cell polyethylene (PE) foam as its cushioning and impact-absorption layer. This specialized foam provides cushioning and support while resisting water absorption, repeated compression and breakdown over time.
Why We Chose It
- Shock Absorption – Helps absorb and distribute the forces between your horse and saddle.
- Compression Resistance – Handles repeated loading without simply flattening out over time.
- Resilient Recovery – Recovers after being compressed, helping the pad maintain its cushioning properties.
- Water Resistant – Its closed-cell construction prevents the cells from acting like a sponge, so the foam absorbs far less moisture.
- Lightweight Cushioning – Provides support and impact absorption without adding unnecessary weight.
- Consistent Performance – Its controlled density and thickness provide predictable performance compared to generic soft foams.
- Built to Last – Designed to withstand the repeated compression and use that a saddle pad experiences.
Why Closed-Cell Foam Is Important
Unlike open-cell foam, which can absorb and retain moisture, closed-cell foam has cells that aren't interconnected. That means less moisture and sweat can penetrate into the foam, helping it stay lighter and easier to care for.
We place the skin side of the foam against the horse for a reason. The smooth, less porous surface helps:
- Reduce sweat and moisture penetration into the foam
- Prevent dirt, hair and organic material from becoming trapped
- Make the surface easier to clean after use
- Reduce moisture retention
- Minimize the opportunity for bacteria and fungi to establish themselves deep within the foam
The result? A lightweight, durable cushioning layer that's designed to provide consistent support and impact absorption ride after ride.
Clinton's PRS Saddle Pads are available in a foam and felt bottom. Choose a felt bottom for your horse's comfort on long rides and the foam bottom for ease of care. With a foam bottom, you can wipe the pad with a damp cloth and it'll be as good as new. The PRS Pad Black Felt Top Foam Bottom is available only with a foam bottom.
Please note that colors may vary due to differences in dye lots.
